UWI embarking on new strategic plan

The University of the West Indies is embarking on a new strategic plan in an effort to strengthen the entity and enhance its contribution to the region. The disclosure from new Chancellor Dr. the Most Honourable Dodridge Miller, who says this is the new mandate as officials move to safeguard the standards that the region rightfully deserves. Dr. Miller says as Caribbean citizens, it is the duty of those throughout the region to champion and support the institution even when it faces challenges. He was speaking during his installation ceremony at the UWI Cave Hill Campus, where he became the first Chancellor to wear the UWI's new regalia. Dr. Miller succeeds Robert Bermudez, and is serving a seven-year term, which began on August 1, 2024. Meanwhile, Vice-Chancellor Professor Sir Hilary Beckles says officials are pursuing the development of a hybrid university for the future, as the institution's identity continues to evolve.
