The University of the West Indies despite being tested by the recent COVID-19 says the world of higher education has become extremely competitive since the pandemic. According to UWI Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, universities are competing more aggressively than ever, likening it to an almost cutthroat situation for a diminishing number of students. He says the capacity of a university to survive today is based on how effective it will be in building out global partnerships and collaborations. Sir Hilary's comments came during the annual meeting of the council of the St. Augustine Campus. The St. Augustine Campus has recorded a decline in enrollment figures, it was revealed by the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Campus Principal, Professor Rose Marie Belle Antoine.
