Victorian Liberal Leader John Pesutto ousted in party room showdown

Brad Battin will become Victorian Liberal leader after successfully ousting John Pesutto in a tense leadership showdown on Friday morning. Mr Battin made brief comments to the media after emerging victorious, praising Mr Pesutto's efforts as Liberal leader. "I want to thank John Pesutto for what he has done for our party," Mr Battin said. “He’s a true believer of our values and he’s a man of his word. "We now have an obligation to move forward. "We know that the budget is out of control, we need to have a program that we can reduce the budget burden here in Victoria. "We also know that our roads are crumbling. "It is so important we fix those roads and we will ensure that we have a policy for that."
