Paramedics in Victoria are on the verge of industrial action after no movement on wages. The current pay deal expires within weeks, and they are nowhere near a new one. More than 60 meetings have taken place between the Victorian state government and worker representatives over the past 12 months. In December, Ambulance Victoria were offered a 3 per cent pay rise and yearly bonuses of $1,800. The union, however, is demanding change on other issues including sick leave, rostering and overtime.
