Volunteers vital
A major community-building initiative has been launched as the island prepares to host the ICC T20 World Cup. The Connect Barbados Volunteer Programme encourages Barbadians to contribute their time and skills to give back to their communities. Minister of Youth, Sport and Community Empowerment, Charles Griffith, has urged those signing up to be committed to Barbados' World Cup effort. Speaking at the launch held at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex, Mr Griffith noted that volunteerism can play a pivotal role in helping Barbados put on a successful campaign. Mr Griffith states several other sporting disciplines could benefit from the Volunteer Connect programme. He has also asked for volunteers to help with mentoring the younger generation.
