Voting underway in Cook by-election

Voting is now underway for the south Sydney seat of Cook. The electorate has been made vacant by former prime minister Scott Morrison. The Liberal Party has selected Simon Kennedy to be his potential replacement. Mr Kennedy, who failed to secure the seat of Bennelong in the 2022 federal election, will not be able to vote for himself as he only recently moved to the electorate after the electoral rolls closed. Mr Kennedy says he isn’t concerned by the low turnout of voters. The former prime minister has reiterated his support behind Mr Kennedy in a video of the pair posted to his Instagram account.
