WASA Addressing Water Shortage In Siparia
The Water and Sewerage Authority is working to improve the water supply to customers in certain communities in the Siparia area. The areas in question are supplied by the Caroni Water Treatment Plant and the Point Lisas Desal transmission network through a series of boosters. WASA says recent supply interruptions contributed to the underlying issue of undersized pipelines servicing the community, which impacted the Authority’s ability to maintain the established schedules. To address this issue in the short term, WASA increased its water truck delivery capacity to the area and has been working closely with local government representatives to address requests for truck-borne service to customers. The Authority has also identified several projects for implementation over the coming months including the upgrade of the Carapal Water Treatment Plant and the development of ten new wells.
