Waterborne diseases remain a risk two years after Pakistan floods

The devastating floods of 2022 left a third of Pakistan under water and impacted 33 million people. Two years on, millions are still struggling to piece their lives back together. Health experts said the spread of waterborne diseases has been challenging and could trigger a public health crisis. According to the World Health Organization, Pakistan saw a huge spike in malaria cases after the devastation, from 400,000 in 2021 to over 1.6 million in 2022. Hira Mustafa travelled to Southern Sindh, one of the hardest-hit regions.
