‘We need to be focused’: Calls to scrap Melbourne Lord Mayor’s robes and chains

Melbourne Mayoral Candidate Phil Reed is calling for the Lord Mayor’s robes and chains to be abolished in hopes the elected official will focus on real issues instead of photo opportunities. “Maybe those chains weigh down their decision-making process,” he told Sky News Australia. “There’s some pretty big challenges in front of us and we need to be focused on that.”
