Assistant Defence Minister Matt Thistlethwaite says Australia does “not” have time to adopt nuclear energy because the world is “in a climate emergency”. Opposition Leader Peter Dutton announced the Coalition’s nuclear plan last week. “The other point to make is we simply don’t have time,” Mr Thistlethwaite told Sky News Australia. “We’re talking about 15 years before any of these nuclear power plants come online. “We simply do not have time. “We’re in a climate emergency, and we need to reduce emissions in a gradual process straight away – that’s what the government’s policies do.”
