The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) said the continued confrontation made executing the arrest warrant a Seoul court issued on Tuesday virtually impossible. It was the first time in the country's history that an arrest warrant was issued against a sitting president. On January 4, South Koreans were seen rallying in the streets. CGTN Stringer took to the streets of Daegu, where Yoon started his career at the public prosecutor's office in 1994. Na Je-hyun, a cultural planner, said arresting Yoon was necessary because he was the "leader of the rebellion." Meanwhile, a retiree surnamed Park said arresting the president was nonsense and that such things should not happen in South Korea because the president has the right to declare martial law.
