Western Victoria to reach catastrophic fire-danger rating on Wednesday

Total fire bans are in place for large parts of Victoria on Wednesday as the state faces some of its worst fire conditions in four years. Over 30,000 people have been issued evacuation advice as catastrophic fire danger sweeps through the western regions. Six homes have already been destroyed, but no fatalities have yet been recorded. CFA’s Chief Officer Jason Heffernan advised residents no home is built to withstand such conditions. Premier Jacinta Allan urged people to heed the state’s fire restrictions and to listen out for any emergency services’ guidance.
