Sky News understands ministers are exploring plans to hand ownership of the Post Office to thousands of sub-postmasters across Britain. The organisation is currently entirely owned by the state and receives an annual subsidy from the government. The work is said to be at an early stage, but is expected to result in a report being handed to Jonathan Reynolds, the business secretary, in the coming months, according to a government insider.
