Why does Switzerland have so many bunkers? On Assignment | ITV News
Switzerland has a huge network of underground bunkers, with more than 370,000 situated across the country. In fact, it’s the only nation in the world where every citizen is entitled to space in a shelter, by law. After the threat of nuclear war receded in the 1990s, some bunkers began to be sold off to private companies, but with Russia’s recent invasion of Ukraine and more uncertainty on the world stage, many Swiss are rethinking their bunker policy.
