Why fast-food joints in Los Angeles are charging for bags

Thanks to an ordinance, fast-food restaurants in the city of Los Angeles can charge customers 10 cents for bags. The city tells NBC4 that the initial bag ban ordinance from 2013 was amended to include restaurants and took effect in July 2023. But what if you decline to purchase a bag for 10 cents like you do at grocery stores? NBC4’s Jonathan Gonzalez did some drive-thru experiment to find out.
