Why Joe Biden and Donald Trump's first presidential debate is so early

Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney has weighed in on why US President Joe Biden and former president Donald Trump are holding a debate so early ahead of the elections in November. “The reason why we’re doing this as early as we are, this is by far the earliest presidential debate in the history of this country,” Mr Mulvaney said. “But the general consensus is the reason that they're doing so early is in case it goes badly, the person who doesn’t fair well tonight might have a chance to turn things around before the election in November in four months.”
