High optimism the Wildey Green Business pilot being undertaken by the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry could be replicated in other business districts. The project is funded by the International Labour Office Partnership for Action on Green Economy with support from the Ministry of Environment, National Beautification and the Blue and Green Economy. Officials of the ILO and the BCCI signed off on the project during a ceremony this morning. Among the project's objectives, are assessing the greening and associated needs among businesses in the Wildey business district and securing the commitment of 20 businesses to transition to best practice 'green businesses' by the end of the project. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Yolande Howard welcomed the partnership saying the project came about after much discussion and work over the years. Director of the International Labour Organisation's decent work team and office for the Caribbean, Joni Musabayana says it's important businesses are enabled to green their business processes and services.
