Woodlands Checkpoint to be expanded to five times its current size
Woodlands Checkpoint will be expanded to five times its current size to cope with chronic congestion. Construction is set to start next year. Under the first stage, an extension will be built at the Old Woodlands Town Centre. There will be 78 arrival car lanes, improving clearance capacity by 95%. These can be converted to over 150 motorcycle lanes during peak periods. 21 cargo lanes will increase capacity by 30%. Authorities said the redeveloped area will be operational progressively from 2028. It is estimated that 40,000 travellers will pass through the land border daily by 2050.
