President of the Barbados Alliance to End Homelessness Kemar Saffrey is condemning a video circulating on social media showing a business owner admitting to beating a homeless man. Mr Saffrey tells CBC News he is concerned about the increasing violence against the homeless and the growing trend of vigilante justice. He is calling on Barbadians to remember that members of the homeless community are vulnerable individuals battling drug abuse and mental health issues. The well-known advocate is also making it clear that homeless individuals who receive counselling through his organisation are often encouraged to stay away from crime and violence.
