Deaths related to non-communicable diseases are on the rise in South Africa. Diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and cancer are some of the highest contributing underlying causes of death. According to Professor Renata Schoeman of Stellenbosch Business School, many people struggle to take responsibility for their own health. Professor Schoeman joined eNCA to talk more about how people can tackle these diseases, and avoid needless deaths, that otherwise could be avoided with a healthy lifestyle.
