“World is going a little crazy”: Trump says as Macron welcomes him to Paris
U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and French President Emmanuel Macron met for a trilateral meeting in Paris on Saturday, ahead of a re-opening ceremony for Notre-Dame cathedral. It was Trump's first trip overseas since he won the presidential election a month ago, marking his return to the world stage — still as a private citizen, but with a number of international crises awaiting his incoming administration. In past remarks, Trump has said that European nations need to pay more for their common defence and that a negotiated settlement is needed to end the Ukraine war. In response, European leaders have been concerned that Trump could withdraw U.S. military aid to Ukraine. “It certainly seems like the world is going a little crazy right now. And we will be talking about that,” Trump said during remarks with Macron.
