Shadow Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Birmingham says “hopefully” the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar can be a “turning point” in the conflict in the Middle East. Hamas leader and October 7 mastermind Yahya Sinwar has been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza. “The death of Yahya Sinwar sees a vicious flame of terrorism extinguished from the Middle East,” Mr Birmingham told Sky News Australia. “Hopefully, his death can be a turning point and we would love to see Hamas agree to release all hostages, to surrender its remaining terrorist infrastructure and create the environment for a ceasefire and steps towards peace and greater peace in the Middle East.”
