For 15 consecutive years, China has remained Africa's largest trading partner, with Uganda standing out as China's third-largest trading partner on the continent. In this edition of The Hub, CGTN's Wang Guan sat down with Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to discuss Africa's struggle against imperialism and colonialism in the early days and how China joined in later on to become a force for development and modernization in Africa. Museveni remarks that China-Africa relations are based on a partnership of equals, focusing on trade and infrastructure, contrary to the Western approach of imposing values. He uses the Chinese-built Karuma Hydropower Plant as an example to show that China is addressing Africa's need for critical infrastructure. Museveni also notes that Africa's future lies in transforming resources such as coffee into value-added products to generate more growth.
