Young athletes benefit from SAT programme
Close to 150 young Barbadian athletes have benefitted thus far since the introduction of the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) programme for student athletes seeking placements in US colleges and universities. The programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment. According to Minister Charles Griffith, 147 people have completed the programme. Minister Griffith sees the programme as necessary. He was at the time addressing a workshop for student athletes hosted by the US Embassy at the Roy Marshall Complex of the University of the West Indies at Cave Hill. Minister Griffith further revealed plans to have a sports psychologist on staff at the National Sports Council.
